50-hour Alignment and Adjustments Teacher Training

Starts April 30, 2019
Ends May 6, 2019

14:00 - 11:00

Evia Silence, Greece

from 1290 EUR

In this course, we revise the foundations and principles of yoga alignment and hands on adjustments. You will learn different options for alignment and different techniques of giving physical adjustments in a safe, supportive environment. You will receive constructive feedback from fellow students and lead teachers. By the end of the course you will feel confident in aligning and adjusting both yourself and your students in more than seventy yoga postures.

The precise way in which the body should be positioned in each yoga pose in order to obtain the maximum benefit from the pose and avoid injury is the definition of asana alignment. Because every yoga style happens to have a different approach to the pose alignment, it may become confusing not only to the students but sometimes even to the teachers. That is why it is important to understand that some alignment principles are universal while some of them need to be adapted. In this course you will learn to incorporate the universal principles necessary for safety, while making adaptations to achieve different results in the pose.

It has become very common to get adjusted in yoga classes, with many students even expecting to get adjusted. Since there are infinite possibilities of how to adjust different body types in a posture, adjusting has become an art on its own. Through adjusting, a student gains high level of trust in his/her teacher. Hence, effective adjustments have the power to turn random drop-in yogis into loyal practitioners.

While some students respond to verbal instructions, others respond to hands-on adjustments. That makes adjustments a very effective way of communicating with your students. Often the best way to understand something is not through information but through experience. That is why physical adjustments not only guide the student into the posture but also help to improve the alignment and deepen the posture.

Providing meaningful adjustments to our students will help them to explore the edges of effort and ease, to practice between surrender and control, to develop awareness about their own body, and to open to self-understanding.
